PLD Program
The Pastoral Leadership Development Program of the Southern Conference provides the opportunity for those in “mid-life” to explore the possibility of ordained ministry in the United Church of Christ.
This program is created for those who are 35 years or older and unable to participate in a traditional seminary program of study. PLD offers courses in church history, theology UCC history and polity, worship and preaching, and administration. Classes meet Friday evenings and Saturdays for three five-week sessions each year. Instructors include local church pastors as well as professors from Lancaster Theological Seminary. There is also a one-week intensive program on campus at Lancaster Theological Seminary each summer. Upon successful completion of the program, an individual would be eligible for ordination as a pastor in the United Church of Christ.
